Beginnings of Student Scribes
Nina Kar began her work as a scribe after seeing an opportunity to help in a medical office as they transitioned from paper charts to EMR. Once she began taking notes, she realized the greater opportunity for college students to work with medical professionals, leading her to create a program in which college students are connected with medical professionals. Student Scribes has expanded to include over 40 scribes working in private practices and clinics. Our scribes have worked with over twelve specialties. We are currently working with medical professionals in Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Orange County, and the Inland Empire.

Providing you with hard-working scribes
Student Scribes is a revolutionary program in which students are able to directly shadow and scribe for private physicians and medical professionals. Each scribe is selectively chosen from a wide range of applicants, and is groomed throughout their tenure in the program. By choosing this program, you will be connected with a mature, helpful, and intelligent student who is paving their pathway towards their medical careers. This opportunity is mutually beneficial: medical professionals who are constantly bombarded with paperwork have the opportunity to lessen their load by using a scribe to take notes in the room with a patient; additionally, students have the opportunity to have a hands-on experience in which they get to experience the day-to-day work of medical professionals. Students are therefore able to further understand what their future medical professions may entail. Each scribe signs contracts detailing HIPAA laws, patient consent, & work rules and regulations.
